Waterborne interior wall coatings are made up of water, emulsion, pigments and fillers and auxiliaries. The difference between interior wall coatings and exterior wall coatings is that they are different in environmental resistance.
Generally speaking, outdoor coatings need to have certain resistance to wind, frost, snow, sunshine, etc. (water resistance, alkali resistance, UV resistance, frost resistance, fade resistance, pollution resistance, etc.), so the requirements of raw materials selected in the formula are higher than that of interior wall coatings. The environment experienced by the general interior wall coating is more moderate than that of the external wall, so the general interior wall coating cannot be used for the external wall.
Can exterior wall paint be used for interior walls?
The performance requirement of exterior wall coating is higher than that of interior wall, so exterior wall coating can be used for interior wall. Because the price of the exterior wall coating is higher than that of the interior wall coating, it is not used by the general consumers. However, when the requirements for the interior wall coating are more severe or there are special requirements, the exterior wall coating can be used, such as bathroom, toilet, kitchen and interior, to make it more magnificent.
Why is there a requirement for wall humidity and wall maintenance period before painting?
The wall is wet. On the one hand, the water in the cement or sand slurry just finished construction has not completely disappeared. On the other hand, the environment is too wet or the rain causes excessive humidity. Too wet wall will affect the adhesion of the paint surface, will cause the paint surface blistering, cracking, fading and promote the growth of mold.
And in the process of water evaporation and drying, the wall salt and alkali will seep out and accumulate on the surface, which will damage the surface of the paint and make the color fade. Therefore, the wall humidity before construction is limited to 6%.
There shall be a curing period of at least 28 days after the cement wall is formed and plastered, so as to make the cement fully solidified, the size stable and the alkali of the wall seep out, and then brush after cleaning.
Why should surface treatment be carried out? How many surface treatment methods are there?
No matter how good the coating is, if there is not enough and proper surface treatment in advance, the obtained coating surface will not be perfect in performance and benefit. The surface treatment varies according to the substrate, but the purpose is the same, that is to give a dry and stable substrate.
Methods of surface treatment: high pressure water washing, grinding, temperature control, required base material maintenance period, peeling, pickling, solvent degreasing, sawing, sandblasting, repair, etc.
Can the water-based interior wall coating with high viscosity be directly sprayed?
The water-based interior wall coating with high viscosity can be directly sprayed with airless paint without dilution or a small amount of dilution, and the effect is good.
If air spraying is used, the water-based interior wall coating must be diluted to the corresponding viscosity, because the viscosity of the required water-based interior wall coating is different with different spray guns and different air pressure. The water-based interior wall coating requires a large amount of spray paint and a large spray range.
How to choose painting tools? What should be paid attention to when using new typewriters and new bristles?
According to the size, properties and paint materials of the brush surface, choose different hard brush and brush arrangement. Flat hard brush shall be selected for primer and ready mixed paint; flat brush with thinner and better elasticity shall be selected for varnish; bristle brush with larger elasticity and strength than typesetting brush is suitable for painting with higher viscosity.
When using a new bristle brush, before painting, the bristle brush should be placed on No. 1 sandpaper, and the head of the bristle should be sanded back and forth to make the bristle smooth and smooth, and then dip a small amount of paint on the old surface, and brush back and forth several times to make the floating bristle fall off, so as to ensure that the bristle will not fall off easily when brushing.
When using the new brush, in order to reduce hair loss, you should first use your fingers to move the brush hair back and forth, so that the unstuck wool will fall out, and then soak it with hot water, flatten the pen head, wrap it with paper, and let it dry by itself.
Why is it best to brush the water-based interior wall paint more than twice?
Two coats of water-based interior wall coating are mainly applied to achieve its proper covering power and coating surface performance. Because the covering power and surface performance of the coating have a certain relationship with the thickness of the coating surface, in order to achieve the best decoration and protection effect, the waterborne interior wall coating is best brushed twice.
The premise is to carry out construction according to the base material treatment and dilution ratio required in the specification.
How long can the water-based interior wall paint be reapplied for the second time after it has been applied for one time?
The interval between two coats of waterborne interior wall coating shall be determined according to the specific construction conditions. It's mainly the first time after it's all dry and then the second time. Some coating surface dry slower will extend the recoat time.
Can a thick layer achieve the same effect as two thin layers?
Water based interior wall coating is generally required to be applied twice (under normal dilution), too thick coating will cause cracks on the coating surface, and the appearance will not be smooth. Although the condition of the thicker coating surface is considered in the formulation design, it does not mean that the water-based interior wall coating can be over diluted and applied many times, because the over dilution of the water-based interior wall coating will cause the coating surface to be powdered.
How long can the paint be applied after the putty is applied?
There are many putty suitable for building walls, mainly including water-based putty and nitro putty. If it is water-based putty, it should be painted after 24 hours. If it is nitro putty, it should be painted after 5 hours. The specific basis is to brush the paint after the putty is dry, otherwise the paint surface is prone to blistering and peeling.
a. How to deal with gypsum board, asbestos cement board and other base materials?
Gypsum board and asbestos cement board shall be fully dry before painting. Due to their certain alkalinity, it is recommended to apply the first coat of sealing primer and then the top coat.
b. When the old wall is painted with water-based interior wall coating, does not brushing primer have any effect? How to deal with the wall?
If the old wall is solid and the wall alkali is not serious, you can brush the top coat directly after cleaning the wall. If the coating surface is loose and uneven after shoveling, it is necessary to reapply putty and use primer to ensure the quality of finish.
