Is silicone oil flammable?
Silicone oil can burn, but due to its high ignition point, it is not easy to burn.
Silicone oil usually refers to linear polysiloxane products that maintain a liquid state at room temperature. It is generally divided into two categories: methyl silicone oil and modified silicone oil. The most commonly used silicone oil - methyl silicone oil, also known as ordinary silicone oil, all of its organic groups are methyl. Methyl silicone oil has good chemical stability, insulation, and hydrophobic properties.
It is prepared by hydrolysis of dimethyl dichlorosilane with water to obtain an initial condensed ring body. The ring body is cracked and distilled to obtain a low ring body. Then, the ring body, sealing agent, and catalyst are mixed together to obtain a mixture of different degrees of polymerization. After vacuum distillation, the low boiling substance is removed to produce silicone oil.
