History of public health development
First of all, Mr. Zhang tells us the history of public health from the perspective of infectious diseases and human destiny. Public health has its own development path. Combing its development context can be divided into two parts, one is the history of disease cognition, the other is the history of health concept.
Not long after the dawn of civilization, people think that it is the easiest to implement the "negative" avoidance strategy to deal with diseases, and thus public health sprouts. In 1831, John snow, a British doctor, made clear the relationship between water pollution and cholera outbreak, and was regarded as the ancestor of modern public health. Clean water management, garbage centralized treatment and urban sewage pipeline construction have been written into the epoch-making "1848 Public Health Act", marking the arrival of modern public health era. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, in the process of the struggle against smallpox, cholera and other infectious diseases, human beings realized that the prevention should be based on groups, and the concept of modern public health was initially formed.
In the 21st century, public health has developed, but the threat of infectious diseases has never been far away from human society. China's public health emergency strategy under the new crown epidemic
In January, our country made rapid response and response, especially the implementation of a series of major initiatives such as the closure of Wuhan. Why are public health outbreaks so serious in Europe and the United States?
Mr. Zhang: I think it's mainly related to the different public health measures taken. After the outbreak was found in China, we have taken a series of very strict control measures, including isolation of close contacts, restrictions on the flow of people and other measures. In Europe and the United States, we didn't pay enough attention to the disease at the beginning. For example, before the disease occurred in the community, we took such a series of strict measures, which led to the loss of early control opportunity and the emergence of today's pandemic.

At the beginning of the epidemic, some decisions made people have a "trust crisis" in the public health system. What can public defenders do in the face of this "trust crisis"?
Mr. Zhang: first of all, this is an unknown disease. There is a process for understanding it. At the beginning of the disease, we also saw that both the national health and Health Commission and the National Center for Disease Control sent a working group to Wuhan to understand the situation and assist in the investigation. Before January 20, we may not have taken some effective measures to make different voices in the public, but we can also see that after we used the government's control measures and the public health emergency response strategy, from the end of January to the present period of time, everyone's control of the epidemic situation is obvious to all, or compared with the development of other countries' epidemic situation You can also see some of the achievements we have made in the fight against the epidemic. Mr. Zhang: for students, on the one hand, they are learning relevant professional knowledge in school; on the other hand, public health is not only to have medical knowledge, it is actually a synthesis of various disciplines, but also to have other knowledge, including public health practice, which is also very important.
