"Unite as one to overcome difficulties"
Under the increasingly severe situation of international epidemic situation, the College of mechanical engineering adheres to the "all-round, all-round and all-round" education concept of Southeast University, and always pays close attention to the learning and life of overseas students. Under the high attention of the college, this accompanying activity officially opened. We sincerely invite Mr. LV Zhiyang, an overseas teacher, and Mr. Liu LiNbO, a representative of overseas students, to bring an experience sharing forum for all overseas students of our college on how to continue to carry forward the motto of Dongda to the best under the influence of the overseas epidemic.
This meeting is divided into three parts - "teacher sharing", "student sharing" and "question asking". Next, let's review this meeting with Xiaobian.
Guest introduction
Lu Zhiyang, graduated from Northeast Forestry University in 2009, Ph.D. from school of chemistry and chemical engineering of Nanjing University in 2014, tutor Professor Hu Zheng. From 2015 to 2019, he successively engaged in postdoctoral research in the school of science and the school of engineering of National University of Singapore. Since 2020, he has been an associate professor in the Department of mechanical design and engineering, School of mechanical engineering, Southeast University. The research direction is the design and manufacture of 3D printing technology in high performance lithium battery devices and efficient water treatment membrane. In the past five years, 42 SCI journal papers and 14 first author papers have been published.
Liu LiNbO, Ph.D., grade 15, School of mechanical science, Southeast University, studied the design and manufacturing of microfluidic chips and medical instruments under the guidance of Professor Yi Hong. In 2018, he went to Harvard University for further study under the guidance of David A. Weitz, academician of the Fourth Academy, and mainly studied droplet microfluidic and its application. Currently, he is in Boston, USA.
Teacher sharing
Mr. Lu Zhiyang introduced his research direction - "the application research of 3D printing technology in battery devices and sewage treatment membrane" and its background and achievements.
After that, Mr. Lu told us about the epidemic situation in Singapore. He told us that before the closure of Wuhan, Singapore had consciously screened and isolated new people from Wuhan, so the initial spread of the epidemic was not serious, with an increase of no more than 10 people per day, sometimes 0. However, with the outbreak of the global epidemic, the situation of the epidemic has become more and more serious in recent days. Since April 7, Singapore has been gradually suspended from school.
Then the teacher shared his life before and after the shutdown. Before the shutdown, he insisted on wearing masks, eating at home as much as possible, paying attention to hygiene, and arranging time reasonably to reduce going out. After the shutdown, he mainly revised the article, paid attention to diet and sleep, improved nutrition, and accompanied his family with the time saved.
Finally, Mr. Lu reminded overseas students to go out as little as possible and not rush back to China. He actively cooperated with the college, the local government and the motherland to win the anti epidemic war.

Seniors sharing
Liu limbo first introduced himself to us and the current research direction, droplet microfluidics. After that, I shared with us the experiences and feelings of life, study and research during my study abroad. He also answered the questions of the students who had the intention to study abroad and briefly introduced his life in the United States during the outbreak. At last, I show some dry goods to those who want to study abroad.

Question link
Q: "Does Mr. Lu have any suggestions for the students who want to study further and take the road of scientific research?"
Mr. LV Zhiyang: "not everyone is suitable for scientific research. It depends on whether they are suitable, whether they like to do scientific research, and whether they can stand the loneliness during the period of studying in the University. Scientific research is not easy, and with failure, but the advantage of scientific research is that they can explore the unknown and enrich themselves."
Q: "Mr. Lu, what is the learning atmosphere and academic environment of NUS and the application conditions for graduate students?"
Mr. Lu Zhiyang: "the application conditions are looser than the top universities in the United States. As for the National University of Singapore, it has a high ranking, a good environment and atmosphere for scientific research, but it also has to be divided into disciplines and fields. On the whole, every semester is very busy, and students will try to make achievements every semester.
Singapore has a more open way of scientific research (more exchanges). We can learn a lot from the exchanges between different majors and the same major. Generally speaking, the living and learning environment in Singapore is relatively good, and the Chinese are easy to integrate. "
Q: "Mr. Liu LiNbO, please give us some suggestions on Learning Planning for our junior students through your own experience."
Liu LiNbO, chief student: "during the undergraduate course, we should do well in class and actively participate in the school's competitions to exercise our ability.". Grasp some important nodes, such as contests that can be participated in, try to get some rankings and put them in the resume, which will be very helpful in the future. If you have spare time to learn, you can take the initiative to go to the laboratory to find work, take yourself with you when you send your paper, and at the same time, you can contact more excellent people. "
Activity thoughts
Zhang Shuheng, 19-year-old undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering College:
Through this activity, I saw the meticulous attitude of the overseas teachers and students of the Institute of mechanical engineering to the scientific research work in the epidemic situation and their patriotic enthusiasm in the overseas and the motherland. I also realized the hard work of scientific research and the excellent quality of my predecessors. I want to learn from them, devote myself to scientific research as soon as possible, and repay the cultivation of mother country with scientific research achievements!
Song Yuang, 19-year-old undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering College:
In this sharing meeting, I am very glad to hear the experience sharing of teachers and seniors, and answer my many doubts. Mr. LV introduced his research background, displayed the research results, expanded my vision, and understood the most cutting-edge research results, which benefited me a lot.
Liu Xuechang explained to us the advantages of studying abroad: 1. Sufficient nutrition, can exchange academic knowledge with more people; 2. Near the red, can be close to the top research team and laboratory; 3. Seeing is believing, urging you to spend more time on learning. Liu Xuechang also answered a lot of doubts for us, making us full of expectations for the future of studying abroad.
Ma Yidan, 19-year-old undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering College:
After listening to this experience sharing, I realized that: the life of overseas students is not boring. They study in a sullen way. No matter in schools and schools, or between departments and departments, there are only many more opportunities for exchange than in China. We should learn to be independent. Most of the overseas students rent houses, so we should learn to take care of ourselves. In undergraduate study, you can take part in more competitions and other activities to fill in your resume.
Sun Qingshang, a 17-year-old undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering College:
Mr. LV told us: Singapore has done a very good job in the prevention and control of the epidemic since the beginning, and people's lives have been less affected. Although the epidemic situation in Singapore is getting worse, it is much better than that in many European and American countries. At the same time, Mr. Lu introduced some of his research directions, as well as his daily life. While thanking Mr. Lu for sharing, I hope he can get through the epidemic smoothly.
Liu Xuechang shared several aspects with us. What impresses me deeply is that "the seats of Harvard University laboratory are as hard to occupy as the library of Dongda".
College of mechanical engineering 19 counselors Yu Qianguo:
I think this activity is very meaningful. It not only helps solve the students' questions about studying abroad, but also inspires them by gathering the students who are now studying abroad in the same chat room. Teachers and students are very passionate and full of goods! Finally, I wish the students of Dong University who are currently studying abroad a safe and successful life.
The true feelings span thousands of rivers and mountains,
Love reaches the other side of the ocean.
The school children are far away from home,
Never change the style of study!
