New technology of high performance polymer emulsion and its application in Waterborne Wood Coatings

More than 50% of Chinese coatings are traditional solvent based coatings, and about 6 million tons of organic solvents are discharged into the air every year to pollute the environment. Waterborne oil paint is the development direction of the world paint industry. At the beginning of this century, developed countries legislated to ban oil wood coating one after another. China produces more than 75% of the world's wooden furniture, toys and handicrafts, which can't be exported by painting with domestic oil-based paint. Using the best foreign water-based paint, such as German Dufang products, has the disadvantages of low film hardness, poor water resistance and pollution resistance, etc., which will stick and peel off when the temperature / humidity changes greatly.
The project group analyzed the influence of temperature, humidity, water quality, material and other factors on the performance of waterborne wood materials. From the development of high performance polymer emulsion, after 15 years of industry university research cooperation, we developed 50 high-performance polymer emulsions and more than a variety of waterborne wood coatings products, which met the European and American standards. The hardness, water resistance, chemical resistance and anti expansion bar of the product are higher than those of Dufang, which solves the worldwide problems of adhesion and depainting of waterborne wood coatings. The key technologies of the project are macromolecular emulsification, pH controlled crosslinking, solvent driven sol-gel, emulsification and polymerization separation.
The above technologies are embodied in the following three innovations: 1. Develop a new process for the preparation of high solid content polymer aqueous dispersion. The polymer containing carboxylate was used to emulsify and disperse the polymer without carboxylate, and the polymer water dispersion with solid content of more than 50% was prepared. To develop pH controlled crosslinking technology, improve the crosslinking density of the film, eliminate the influence of residual hydrophilic carboxyl / amino group in the film on the water resistance of the film, and solve the problem of poor chemical resistance and stain resistance of polyurethane water dispersion (PUD) film. The stain resistance of PUD film reaches 10 levels (6-8 levels at home and abroad). 2. The preparation method of acrylic polyurethane copolymer emulsion (PUA) was invented. PUA was prepared by using waterborne polyurethane as macromolecule emulsifier and reactant, and the hardness of the coating was increased to 0.66 (0.54 abroad) by chemical combination of epoxy, acrylic acid and polyurethane. The process of emulsification and polymerization separation was developed to achieve the industrialization and stable production of 10 thousand tons of PUA emulsion per year. 3. The new technology of high performance polyacrylate emulsion (PA) was developed. The development of self crosslinking high solid content PA emulsion at room temperature can improve the sealing ability to 10 grade (preferably 5 grade abroad). Sol-gel technology is used to prepare glass hard coating by developing solvents, which solves the technical problems of waterborne coatings for making wood ribs. The performance of primer anti scaling is 10 grade (only 8 grade abroad), the thermal adhesion resistance reaches 10 level (7 for foreign countries), and the coating hardness is improved. Degree and grindability. The products of the project have passed the tests of SGS (Swiss general notary) and LGA (product safety and reliability), and exceeded the relevant standards of European and American countries; the products have been popularized and applied in the country, with a total sales revenue of 507 million yuan, a profit of 59.59 million yuan and an annual saving of more than 10000 tons of triphenyl solvent in the past three years. The products of this project have been widely used by domestic and foreign manufacturers, with the coverage ranking first in China. It has become a fixed-point supply product of IKEA, an international furniture giant. The painted wood and bamboo products have been exported to Europe, the United States and other countries.
The project has been authorized 15 invention patents (7 valid), and has won the 10th and 18th China Patent Excellence Awards; participated in the formulation of 6 national standards, and published more than 60 papers included in SCI. The invention can also be used in the fields of water-based leather finishing agent and adhesive, textile, paper coating and construction, metal, plastic coating, etc.
