On the morning of April 17, our college successfully completed the oral defense meeting of the academic forum of School of computer science and engineering of Southeast University in 2020. This is the first time that the College of computer science has used online method to conduct thesis defense activities. Due to the outbreak novel coronavirus pneumonia, our school adjusted the opening time in time to avoid the risk of epidemic transmission, but followed the criterion of "suspension of classes, no suspension of study, delayed return to school, and school opening", and teaching activities were conducted normally according to the calendar of teaching. With the help of the network platform, the defense of this academic forum is conducted through the online way of Tencent conference.

Pre defense
The oral defense of this academic forum is divided into five directions: computer network and its application, image processing and scientific visualization, computer system structure + artificial intelligence and its application, database and information system, software engineering and computer theory. This oral defense is divided into nine groups, each group is presided over by the corresponding person in charge, each group has 12-14 students and three review teachers. Each student has 8 minutes to reply, and the judge teacher has 2-4 minutes to ask questions. The defense meetings of the nine groups of this meeting are held in different conference rooms at the same time, so as to ensure the efficient implementation of this meeting.
Defense process
All the students in each group arrived at the meeting room at 8:45 (the students in the video group entered the meeting room at 8:20). The teachers and students were familiar with and debugged the meeting environment in advance, tested the network environment, PPT broadcast status, voice and video communication status, and ensured the normal operation of the video conference.

After all preparations are completed, the oral defense meeting will start at 9:00 on time (the oral defense meeting will start at 8:30 in the video group). In the course of the meeting, each group will conduct the oral defense in the order of the group. The oral defense students will use Tencent meeting to display their oral defense ppt by sharing the screen, and at the same time, open the video to explain to the participating teachers and students. In the meeting, the respondent reported the research background, relevant work, research objectives, relevant theories, research methods, model details, experimental methods, research results, paper summary and other contents of his / her thesis in 8 minutes. After the presentation, the reviewers of the relevant group asked questions about the respondent's contents, and conducted research with the students in terms of research methods and model details Patient and in-depth discussion, the final review of the teacher on the content of the students paper further put forward valuable suggestions for revision.

Post defense
