Silicone oil is a core functional raw material in the production of specialty paper, mainly applied in three categories: release paper, waterproof packaging paper, and coated card paper. With its anti-adhesion, hydrophobic, and lubricating properties, it expands the application scenarios of paper products.
Self-adhesive labels are produced with release paper. The paper surface is uniformly coated with methyl silicone oil to form a stable anti-adhesion layer. The labels can be easily torn off without any glue residue, and are suitable for production of express labels, anti-counterfeiting stickers, and electronic protective films. The thickness of the silicone oil coating can be controlled, and it will not penetrate the paper causing contamination on the backside, ensuring the double-sided printing effect of the paper.
Food packaging paper and outdoor kraft paper are treated with emulsified silicone oil for waterproofing. It prevents water vapor and oil from penetrating, making it less likely for fresh or fried foods to leak during packaging. Calligraphy paper and craft card paper are added with trace lubricating silicone oil to enhance the paper's toughness, making cutting and folding less prone to breakage.
In the papermaking and pulping process, defoaming silicone oil eliminates paper pulp foam, reduces pulp loss, and avoids the appearance of pinhole flaws on the paper surface. Domestic IOTA paper-specific silicone oil is suitable for high-speed coating production lines, with stability comparable to imported products. This significantly reduces the raw material costs for specialty paper factories, and the consumption of silicone oil in the paper industry has been increasing year by year.
