Silicone softener can give the fabric a soft, smooth, plump and elastic feel, and wrinkle-proof, wear-resistant, water-resistant and good sewing characteristics, to a large extent, improve the added value of the product, so it is favored by the majority of customers; However, in the process of soft finishing, defects such as silicone oil spots are often produced, which bring great trouble to dyeing and finishing.
In this paper, the causes, preventive measures and solutions of the common defects in the use of softener are described.
First, the classification of softener
Softeners can be roughly divided into two categories: fatty acid derivatives and silicone.
Fatty acid derivatives are traditionally widely used softeners, while organosilicon is a new breed. The development of silicone softeners is very fast, and new products with various properties and functions are constantly being developed and put on the market.
Silicone softeners not only have better effects than fatty acid derivatives, but also have good durability, so they have occupied a dominant position in the use of textile soft finishing. However, precisely because of its good durability, it also brings some difficulty to the removal, so that the repair or repair dyeing treatment becomes difficult. If the silicone oil spot is more headache, it is difficult to repair.
Silicone softeners are mostly cationic, weak cationic or non-ionic in ionic properties. Therefore, in the production and processing often with color fixing agent bath treatment, treatment bath temperature is generally 30 ~ 45℃. Do not wash after soft treatment, after baking its reaction into a film of higher fastness. If the operation is improper, silicone softener is prone to demulsification and oil bleaching problem. Some need to be processed in the dyeing machine, such as clothing, yarn, loose fiber, dyeing in the dye tank on the softener, etc., after a long time is easy to occur in the equipment of silicone material residue. It is more difficult to remove and repair than fatty acid derivative softeners.
Silicone water solubility is poor, in dyeing and finishing processing must be emulsified before use. In order to increase the water solubility of silicone oil, some silicone oil is added with a self-emulsifying agent to make it self-emulsifying in water. Therefore, if in use do not master the nature of silicone oil characteristics, serious violation of the requirements of the process conditions, there will be demulsification drift oil produced silicone oil spots and other problems.
