The role of silica in plastics
China's white carbon black industry started in 1958 and developed slowly at first. In 1984, the output of white carbon black was 2,600 tons, and in 1990, the output of white carbon black increased to 20,000 tons. In recent years, with the development of the rubber industry, the output has grown rapidly. In 2008, the output of white carbon black in China reached 712,000 tons, ranking first in the world, and it has become a net exporter of white carbon black. At present, China's silica industry has formed a market competition pattern in which foreign (joint venture) companies and domestic companies coexist, and the market competition is sufficient.
The use of fumed silica to transmit light and small particle size can make the plastic more compact. After adding fumed silica to the polystyrene plastic film, it not only improves its transparency, strength and toughness, but also improves its waterproof and anti-aging properties. Significantly improved. The hardness, smoothness and anti-aging properties of the plastic-steel doors and windows produced by adding a small amount of fumed silica to ordinary plastic PVC are greatly improved.
Using fumed silica to modify ordinary plastic polypropylene, the main technical indicators (water absorption, insulation resistance, compressive residual deformation, flexural strength, etc.) all meet or exceed the performance indicators of engineering plastic nylon 6, and the polypropylene railway is realized. The use of accessories instead of nylon 6, the product cost is greatly reduced, and its economic and social benefits are very significant.
