Physical properties of silicone oil
Low surface tension: It can quickly spread silicone oil on the surface of objects, with good lubrication, isolation, and defoaming properties, such as in the application of lubricants and defoamers.
Small viscosity temperature coefficient: The viscosity changes little with temperature and can maintain stable viscosity over a wide temperature range. It has strong adaptability to temperature changes and is suitable for temperature sensitive applications such as aerospace and precision instruments.
• High resistance to compression: The helical structure and large intermolecular distance of the molecule give it high resistance to compression, making it suitable for use as a liquid spring, etc.
Good lubricity: It has the advantages of high flash point, low solidification point, thermal stability, low viscosity change with temperature, non corrosive to metals, and no adverse effects on rubber, plastics, coatings, and organic paint films. It is often used as a lubricant.
Good hydrophobicity: Although the main chain has a polar bond Si-O, the non-polar alkyl groups on the side chains are oriented outward, preventing water molecules from entering the interior and playing a hydrophobic role. It can be used in waterproof, moisture-proof and other fields.
