Phenyl silicone oil: the "green revolution" in the circular economy
When the global silicone oil market faces shortages of raw materials and environmental pressures, the recycling and purification technology of phenyl silicone oil has become a new growth point for the circular economy. The supercritical CO2 extraction process developed by a certain enterprise in Zhejiang can recover 99.5% purity phenyl silicone oil from waste silicone oil. Each ton of recovered material can reduce 1.2 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and the cost is only 60% of new material.

This technological breakthrough stems from the chemical stability of phenyl silicone oil: its silicon oxygen bond energy reaches 460 kJ/mol, much higher than the carbon carbon bond (347 kJ/mol), making the recovery process less prone to chain breakage degradation. In the field of photovoltaics, encapsulation adhesives made from recycled phenyl silicone oil have the same light transmittance and weather resistance as new materials, and have been applied to some component production lines of LONGi Green Energy. The green transformation of phenyl silicone oil from waste to resources not only reduces the industry's dependence on petroleum based raw materials, but also provides a material side solution for global carbon neutrality goals.
